Lumos 2007 Pinot Gris Oregon

What I Drank With Dinner (WIDWD)
Last month, I became a big fan of Lumos wines after enjoying a bottle of their 5 Blocks pinot noir. Dai Crisp, owner/winemaker at Lumos Winery, has hit another home run with his 2007 pinot gris, a bottle I purchased at my local wine retailer for $17.
As a result, I am even more smitten with this Oregon producer not only for their wines, but also their overall approach celebrating the people and places going into each bottle of Lumos wine.
I paired the Lumos 2007 Pinot Gris Rudolfo Vineyard with our dinner of pork chops with fennel and caper sauce, a dish Kari crafted in a single pot. This pinot gris went very well with our meal, and is a wine I would highly recommend with any food calling for a crisp, bright white wine.
On the eyes, the Lumos pinot gris was a light yellow color. On the nose, it offered bright tropical fruit such as pineapple with hints of yeast lees. On the palate, stone fruit flavors of peach and apricot were present, with bright acidity, light viscosity, and a clean finish. The Lumos pinot gris, like its sister pinot noir, is a wine that you just can't stop drinking.
Time to get my hands on more of this wine, if any is left, as the winery states on its web site that they are sold out. I may have to wait until the spring when the 2008 vintage is released. Hope you're able to find some Lumos pinot gris where you shop.
