Oregon pinot noir at $25 and under

Over the last few months, I have had a number of friends ask me about a decent, food-friendly wine priced at or below $25. When faced with this question, it is hard not to suggest an Oregon pinot noir from the 2007 vintage.

As evidenced by the coverage here at BeyondtheBottle.com, I am finding the 2007 pinot noirs from Oregon to be very drinkable and incredibly enjoyable with any meal. Best of all, there are some really good wines being produced at $25 or less.

Here are the wines I recommend in this price range:

Arcane Cellars 2007 Pinot Noir WV (13%) - $20
A to Z 2007 Pinot Noir Oregon (13.5%) - $18
Biggio Hamina 2007 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley (12.5%) - $24
Brick House 2007 Pinot Noir Select Ribbon Ridge (13.4%) - $25
Broadley Vineyards 2007 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley (13.5%) - $23
Brooks 2007 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley (12.4%) - $25
Chateau Bianca 2007 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley (12.5%) - $16
Cloudline 2007 Pinot Noir Oregon (13.5%) - $20
Cooper Mountain 2007 Pinot Noir Reserve Willamette Valley (13%) - $22
Erath 2007 Pinot Noir Oregon (13.0%) - $19
Evesham Wood 2007 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley (13%) - $18
H Wines 2007 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley (13.5%) - $25
lllahe 2007 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley (13.5%) - $22
Lange 2007 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley (13.2%) - $23
Westrey 2007 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley (13.5%) - $23
WillaKenzie 2007 Estate Cuvee Pinot Noir Willamette Valley (13.8%) - $24
Wine by Joe 2007 Oregon Pinot Noir (13.5%) - $15

Suggest you give Whistling Dog pinot a try. The 2006 Anden was the best <$25 bottle of pinot I have enjoyed in a long time. 2007s have not been released yet.

Rick

Have you tried the Whole Cluster Fermented Pinot Noir ($18) or the Pinot Noir ($25) from Willamette Valley Vineyards?

Rick, I'll keep an eye out for the Whistling Dog. Thanks for the suggestion.

Christine, I tried the WWV 2007 Pinot Noir, but have yet to try the WWV 2007 Whole Cluster Fermented. What do you think of these two wines?

I'll second the Whistling Dog recommendation, and add their NSV 2006 too. Anden Vineyard, now that it's all gone — effectively forever — means that it's likely harder to find than the NSV.

Also, I'd add EIEIO's "Swine Wine" ($25 at the Cartlon Tasting room), and J.K. Carriere "Provocateur" ($23 at Fred Meyer's).
